Camper cabins make camping easy

Affordable new campground cabins give guests comfortable experience

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) — Would you like a camping experience without the stress of setting up camp or buying equipment, and with some of the comforts of home? Four new camper cabins at Lake Ouachita State Park in Mountain Pine, Ark., give Arkansas State Parks’ visitors an opportunity to camp without “roughing it.”

“These camper cabins let visitors experience Arkansas State Parks in a unique and comfortable environment,” Arkansas State Parks Director Grady Spann says. “It gives the camper the comforts of a cabin while still enjoying the campground atmosphere in our beautiful state parks.”

Camper cabins include:

• Heating, air conditioning and ceiling fan
• Queen bed, bunk bed and a bench dining table. (Guests bring own linens.)
• Screened-in porch outfitted with comfortable deck chairs to relax and enjoy the view from the campground

At $60 (plus tax) a night, these affordable cabins will give guests an opportunity to connect with the outdoors and Arkansas’s state parks and come back “home” to comfort. They are also dog-friendly.

Lake Ouachita State Park Superintendent Lee Howard says, “Camper cabins are like having a hotel room in a campground with many of the comforts and security of home. Our staff is excited to offer this new way for guests to enjoy our park.”

A modern bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets is within eyeshot of the cabins with a paved, accessible path.

Arkansas State Parks Planning and Development Manager Randy Roberson says, “I’ve always believed that Arkansas State Parks needed an outdoor recreation experience that was somewhere between what we offer with our housekeeping cabins and camping.”

Roberson says Devil’s Den State Park will be the next state park to get camper cabins in the next 12 to 18 months.
