America 250 and Washington’s National Connections

As we commemorate the 250th birthday of our nation, Historic Washington State Park will host a commemoration weekend from July 3-5!

Each day we will have:

-Reading of the Declaration of Independence from the balcony of the 1874 Courthouse, as was traditionally done in the 1800s.

-Historic house tours emphasizing Washington’s national connections and influence in politics, art, trade, and travel.

-Specialty programming about how local residents celebrated the nation’s 79th birthday in 1855, famous travelers who came through Washington on the Southwest trail, and how national independence may have had unexpected outcomes.

-Special exhibits on many people of Washington throughout its history.

-Delicious 4th of July themed food at Williams’ Tavern Restaurant.

-Music in the Park will feature a live performance of Americana music on Friday evening.

And much more! Tours, special programming, and musical performances are free to the public. Food and surrey rides will have an appropriate cost.
