Making Crowfoot Hooks

Freshwater mussels have been very important to people living on the White River, and one of the most important tools for fishing up those mussels was the crowfoot hook. Throughout Arkansas’ history, people fished up mussels for food and used the shells to make buttons, tools, jewelry, and more.  Join us at Lower White River Museum to learn how people used to make these hooks and use them to hunt for shells.
