Last of Summer Activities
August is a terrific time to make Arkansas summer memories with your family before the back-to-school rush. Consider a road trip to the cooler temperatures of the Ozarks, such as a stay in Eureka Springs or a trout fishing trip on the White River. Or, look for a relaxing getaway in the Diamonds Lakes area of Hot Springs.
And, consider a State Park adventure! You can enjoy a lodge or cabin stay at Mount Magazine, a lake cruise at Bull Shoals-White River, a snorkeling tour at DeGray Lake Resort, or a guided tour of historic Mather Lodge at Petit Jean. Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View offers indoor concerts every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, including the Steep Canyon Rangers on August 24 (reserved tickets available). Park interpreters offer fun, family-friendly programs statewide – check out our searchable online calendar for details.
