Annual Lake Bailey Canoe Race

Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the boathouse parking area, and the first heats will begin racing at 8:30 a.m. The event is open to canoes, kayaks, or another human-powered watercraft. Rental canoes, kayaks, and pedal boats are available at the boathouse for a fee of $16 for single canoes and kayaks, $20 for tandem kayaks. There is a general race registration fee. 

The event includes a short race, long race, beach ball relay, and lily pad pickup, as well as a special “just for kids” race. All participants are encouraged to theme their canoes and dress in themed apparel. Be a pirate, superhero, purple dinosaur, historical character, etc. Prizes will be awarded for the best theme and costumes. Awards and recognition are at 11 a.m. This event is a partnership event with the Petit Jean Extension Homemakers Club (PJEHC) and Petit Jean State Park. Proceeds are donated to the general fund of PJEHC for worthy causes.
