Girl Scouts Love State Parks 2026: Intro to Kayaking

This adventure program is for Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts. When you think “kayaking,” do you picture whitewater, helmets, and lots of turning over? It’s true that whitewater kayaking is popular, but there are also many people who enjoy flatwater kayaking, and DeGray Lake is the perfect place for just that. Join a park interpreter for this introductory level kayaking course that will expose you to the basic skills and knowledge you need to safely get out there and enjoy flat water kayaking. Kayaks, paddles, and lifejackets are provided. Participants should come prepared to get wet and dress accordingly. Water shoes or sandals are recommended - no flip flops.
