Kayaking 101
Join a park staff member for Kayaking 101 where you will learn the basics of kayaking. We will learn the proper technique for entering and exiting the kayak as well as proper ways of paddling and other safety measures. During the program, you will see a new angle of the park and take with you a newfound confidence in kayaking. Life jackets and paddles will be provided. The program should last about an hour. Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes in advance to get fitted for life jackets. A sign-up sheet will be available at the visitor center; kayaks are limited. Minimum age for participants is 16. The program is for single use kayaks only, no tandem available for the instructional class. Any participants are required to sign up no later than 3 p.m. the day before the event as staffing is limited at the park. Please sign up in person or call the park at (870) 685-2748.
