Mountain Rendezvous
Join park staff and the Early Arkansaw Reenactors Association at the 2026 Mountain Rendezvous at Petit Jean State Park. A detailed schedule of the day is below. The camp will be open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Friday, November 27and Saturday, November 28.
Friday Nov 27:
- 9:00 am Mountain Rendezvous: Camps Open
- 11:00 am Mountain Rendezvous: Pioneer Children’s Games - Join the Early Arkansaw Reenactors for a glimpse in the past to discover how children played before Arkansas’s establishment as a state. This program is great for children between the ages of 6 and 12, but is open to anyone who wants to attend.
- 1:30 pm Mountain Rendezvous: Tomahawk Toss
- 4:15 pm Mountain Rendezvous: Log Toss
5:00 pm Mountain Rendezvous: Camps Close
Saturday Nov 28:
- 9:00 am Mountain Rendezvous: Camps Open
- 10:00 am Mountain Rendezvous:Pioneer Packout Competition - Life can be unpredictable on the Frontier, and speed could mean the difference of life or death. Think you can pack out all your belongings and “get out of Dodge” faster than the next person? Put it to the test, for you could just be the next Pioneer Packout Champion! Spectators welcome!
- 10:30 am Mountain Rendezvous: Tomahawk Toss
- 11:00 am Mountain Rendezvous: Arkansas Furbearers - Have you ever felt the fur of a bear, a coyote, or a fox? Join the park interpreters at the Rendezvous Camp Commons to see and touch real furs and learn more about Arkansas’s mammals. This program is great for all ages and will last about 30 minutes.
- 2:00 pm Mountain Rendezvous: Tomahawk Throwing Competition - Test your ‘hawk slingin’ capabilities to see if you have what it takes to be the next Tomahawk Throwing Champion! Spectators welcome!
- 4:00 pm Mountain Rendezvous: Cooking Contest Judging -Watch the pioneers create and prepare their best-looking Rendezvous dish. Dishes will be cooked over the fire or in a dutch oven.
