Wildlife Slumber Sunset Hike

Join a park interpreter on this sunset hike to discover the sleeping and waking rhythms of various animals. Trek to the dam on the Lake Sylvia Loop Trail to explore the differences in animal sleeping patterns. View taxidermy and other animal artifacts while learning why animals have different sleeping schedules. On the way to the dam overlook, learn what it means to be a diurnal animal. Arrive at the dam overlook to experience the beautiful fall sunset while discussing what it means to be a crepuscular animal. On the hike back discuss what kinds of nocturnal critters will soon be waking from their daytime slumber. 

This hike is less than 1-mile in length, moderate in difficulty, and will be taken at a slow pace with stops along the way. Make sure to bring water and wear good hiking shoes.
