USA TODAY Nominates 1886 Crescent Hotel for “2019 Best Haunted Hotel”

Submitted by 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa

About one month after the debut of the Travel Channel’s “Ghost Adventures” episode on the historic 1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, USA TODAY nominated what is considered “America’s Most Haunted Hotel” for their 10 Best Readers’ Choice Award: Best Haunted Hotel.

This nomination comes on the heels of the uncovering of Norman Baker’s “bottle grave” which unearthed more than 500 bottles which contained various chemical concoctions and what appears to be fleshy medical specimens.  All were carefully unearthed by the University of Arkansas’ Archeological Survey Team who verified that they came from the days of Baker’s Cancer Curable Hospital which occupied the hotel building in the late 1930s.    The discovery garnered national notoriety on such platforms as CNN and Newsweek.  Already there seems to be an uptick in hotel paranormal activity since the exhumation of the “body parts”.

In announcing the contest USA TODAY wrote: Congratulations! 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa has been nominated in our 2019 10Best Readers' Choice travel awards! Our expert panel selected 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa as a contender for Best Haunted Hotel, which is now underway and gives voters four weeks to vote for the candidate of their choice at https://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-haunted-hotel/. A person can vote once a day for the run of the contest.

“We hope fans and past visitors of our hotel will cast their vote for the 1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa which has been featured on 17 nationally syndicated paranormal television programs and one international programs in Japan,” said Jack Moyer, hotel general manager.  I know that our hotel ‘guests who check out but never leave’ will appreciate it as well.”

Since voting has begun and ends Monday, August 26th, Moyer encourages voters for the 1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa to vote immediately and often.  The winner will be announced on Friday, September 6th, then later on USA TODAY.

Moyer concluded, “USA TODAY went on to challenge we nominees by stating, ‘Prior competitions have been hotly contested, and we look forward to seeing how you rock the vote in your own community and paranormal universe!’  Our ‘rocking’ has begun.”
