Seeing the holiday lights at the Arkansas State Capitol is one of the top holiday traditions in the state. As part of the set up, thousands of beautiful white lights outline the State Capitol building, making for a festive and magical scene. The inside of the State Capitol is also decorated for the season. Also of note are the State Capitol holiday ornaments you can collect, with a new design available each year to add to the mix.

View the epic tree at the Capital Hotel

This historic hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places and has been part of the city’s history since the late 1800s. The hotel knows how to do the holidays right and seeing their impressive Christmas tree located in the hotel lobby is an annual venture for many. The hotel hosts many Christmas events during the month and also has two standout places to grab a merry bite and drink at: One Eleven and the Capital Bar & Grill.

There are many annual holiday events that take place in the city including at spots like the Historic Arkansas Museum, where you can enjoy the popular Nog-Off the second Friday in December. This is a celebration to find the best eggnog in the city and while here you can taste a range of recipes.

Experience the holiday flavor of downtown

Little Rock is Arkansas’s capital city and the city is always flush with Christmas spirit during the holidays. The hub of Little Rock is the bustling River Market District,with its many restaurants, coffee shops, stores, museums and nearby breweries. Along the Main Street Creative Corridor you can catch a holiday show at spots like the Arkansas Repertory Theatre and Ballet Arkansas. Southside Main Street (SoMa) is a historic district near the core of downtown and along with being the base to attractions like Rock Town Distillery and the ESSE Purse Museum, it is home to a celebratory vibe not only during the holidays but year round. The Quapaw Quarter is also usually decked out for the holidays and is home to the Governor’s Mansion and 19th-century homes around MacArthur Park, the oldest park in the city.
