Argenta is North Little Rock’s Cultural Core
Known for its arts and entertainment scene, Argenta Historic District hums with activity as people move between patios, restaurants, theaters, music venues, galleries and event spaces. Thoughtful design, public spaces and decades-long commitment to the district have turned Argenta into the center of North Little Rock’s social and cultural life.
The Argenta Arts District runs three walkable blocks along Main Street, but the broader downtown Argenta experience stretches across 11 blocks of riverfront, connecting major landmarks like Simmons Bank Arena and Dickey-Stephens Park, home of the Arkansas Travelers baseball team.
Where Argenta Comes Together
Argenta Plaza anchors the district and acts as its central gathering space. Designed to host both large events and everyday activity, it shifts throughout the day depending on what’s happening. You might find people hanging out on the plaza's front porch swings, shopping a festival market or dancing at an outdoor concert.
Around it, small parks and outdoor dining extend the experience. Restaurants open up to patios, tables spill outside and the space between them stays active with a steady mix of locals and visitors from day to evening.
Live Music in Argenta
From intimate live music venues to outdoor concert series and major acts at Simmons Bank Arena, Argenta's music scene is strong. The ATG Music Pavilion is where the deeper story lives. Currently under construction, the pavilion will honor Arkansas' role in shaping American music. Plans call for 21 large-scale bronze sculptures featuring Arkansas musicians whose work spans gospel, blues, soul, country, rock and classical, including Sister Rosetta Tharpe from Cotton Plant, Al Green from Forrest City, Glen Campbell from Delight, Levon Helm from Marvell and Louis Jordan from Brinkley.
The centerpiece will be an eight-foot bronze of Johnny Cash by Arkansas artist Kevin Kresse, identical to his sculpture representing Arkansas in the National Statuary Hall of the U.S. Congress. Set alongside Argenta Plaza, it's as much a part of the outdoor experience as the concerts and markets happening around it.
A Community Built for What's Next
New projects are expanding what Argenta has to offer, with more places to gather, stay and spend time. An indoor event center will add space for larger events and year-round programming, while new hotels bring additional lodging alongside river-view restaurants, bars and rooftop spaces.
Existing venues are also growing into larger, purpose-built spaces, adding more live music, events and nightlife. There’s already plenty to do here, with even more on the way.
