America 250 on the Frontier
Celebrate the story of U.S. independence in a place that saw the country's 50th anniversary!
200 years ago, the town of Davidsonville was home of the first federal land office in Arkansas, the place where pioneers could purchase surveyed government lands. Join park interpreters to get a peek into this process of westward expansion by learning how surveyors worked in a time before GPS satellites and how that land was distributed and kept track of afterward.
Flag Raising on the Historic Townsite 10:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.
Join park interpreters to raise the 25-star flag over the historic town, the same flag that would have been flown two hundred years ago at Davidsonville's celebration of the US's 50th anniversary.
1820s Surveying on the Historic Townsite 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Learn how land was surveyed in a time before computers and satellites. Join a park interpreter to demonstrate the process of surveying two hundred years ago and receive a land grant certificate to take home.

Join a park interpreter for a visit to the Lawrence County Clerk's office! Make the same choice as a settler 200 years ago: register your land grant with the county clerk or sell it to a land speculator for Territorial bank notes.
