Birding Basics and Hike Workshop: Yancopin
Birding can seem overwhelming to start. Guidebooks have pages and pages of birds that can be frequently hard to distinguish. Here is your chance to learn the basics and get you well on the way to discovering birds that thrive at Delta Heritage Trail State Park. We will meet at the Watson trailhead and then caravan a short distance in your vehicle to the Yancopin trailhead. To prepare for your bird discovery, a park interpreter will provide some practical techniques to building your bird identification list. Then we will put these new skills to use and travel into the deep Delta forest on a gravel surface trail and out to the Yancopin Bridge over the Arkansas River lasting about 3 miles. Please bring drinking water, snacks, insect repellant, and sunscreen Registration is required by calling the park by September 18 by 5 p.m.
