Cold Weather Hiking Workshop: Yancopin
Winter at Delta Heritage Trail State Park is a unique experience. From seasonal wildlife, solitude, and open views, it's an outdoor Delta adventure you do not want to miss. One challenge to overcome is cold weather and here is your chance to gain practical knowledge for staying safe and comfortable outdoors in winter. Our day will start with a park interpreter showing how to prepare a winter outdoor adventure on the trail. Then, after lunch, we will hike across the Yancopin Bridge, taking us into the secluded deep winter woods on a gravel surface trail lasting 2 hours and covering 3-miles. The pace will be leisurely with frequent stops taking in the sights and sounds of the natural landscape. Be sure to bring a camara as the views on the bridge are like no other in the Delta. Bring a sack lunch, dress warm, have comfortable footwear and drinking water. Registration is required by calling the park by Saturday, December 5 at 5 p.m. at (870) 572-2352.
