“Town in Conflict” Civil War Event
The Civil War was one of the most trying times in our nation’s history. Historic Washington hosts “Town in Conflict," a look at the many aspects of life during the bloody, costly years of the Civil War. The day will begin with a morning battle reenactment at nearby Prairie D’Ane Battlefield in Prescott, Arkansas. Parking fee required.
In the afternoon, programs will be presented throughout the park on such topics as civilian refugees, military camps and drill, Civil War medicine, and the political issues of the day. Tours will be available in addition to the free outdoor Civil War interpretive activities. The day will conclude with a Civil War era ball in the evening (admission fee).
