Indian Lake in Austin
Austin is located around 30 miles from Little Rock and just 5 miles from Cabot. It was first settled in the 1870s when the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railroad built tracks near Old Austin ( around a mile away), which was one of central Arkansas’s early settlements. Many residents from this settlement moved to be near the railroad tracks, in some cases transporting entire buildings, and the new city eventually became known as Austin.
