Morrilton

Located between Conway and Russellville along Interstate 40, Morrilton is only 45 minutes from Little Rock. Residents enjoy a thriving, historic downtown and embrace a rural lifestyle while enjoying the conveniences of nearby cities.

Morrilton is also home to the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton. Also stop by Movie House Winery for a tasting as well as fun wine-related gifts, home décor, or wine and beer making supplies.

The city is a short drive from Petit Jean Mountain, home of Arkansas' flagship state park. Petit Jean State Park is best known for scenic vistas overlooking the Arkansas River Valley, hiking trails, Civilian Conservation Corp architecture, and unique geologic features.

Also on the mountain is the Museum of Automobiles, showcasing 50 vintage vehicles from 1904 to 1967, and Winthrop Rockefeller Institute, a top-notch destination for corporate retreats.

Outdoor opportunities abound in the area. Popular with anglers is Lake Overcup, an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission property known as one of Arkansas' crappie hot spots. Wheelchair-accessible fishing piers are also available here. Prior to the establishment of Morrilton, the town was known as Lewisburg. Built on the banks of the Arkansas River, the Butterfield Overland Mail Company ran through the town on its Memphis-to-Fort Smith route. Today, the Lewisburg Cemetery is all that remains of former Lewisburg.
