Conway blends the energy of a college town with easy access to trails, lakes and a walkable downtown. One minute, you can be pedaling past coffee shops and public art. The next, you're standing on a quiet overlook above the Arkansas River. With so many things to do in Conway packed into one area, it's easy to fill an entire weekend or a quick day trip. 

Road Cycling and Mountain Biking

The cycling scene in Conway is a major outdoor draw. The city has invested heavily in bicycle-friendly navigation, and it features a network of dedicated bike lanes that make exploring the town fun and safe. Beyond the city streets, the trails quickly get more rugged.

Beginner and Intermediate Bike Trails

For beginners or families, Tucker Creek Trail is an easy starting point with paved paths, creek crossings and shaded stretches. More seasoned riders will find challenging single-track trails at Cadron Settlement Park. These intermediate trails lead to overlooks above the Arkansas River. Follow the orange trail markers for the full loop. At 1.6 miles, it's short but sweet. During the summer, plan to ride in the early morning or late in the day to avoid the heat.  

For a quick green ride close to town, Meadows Tech Park offers roughly 3 miles of mountain biking in a loop that feels surprisingly rugged to be so close to downtown. Gravel riders will appreciate the many miles of rural roads just outside the Conway city limits. If you want a full day outdoors, Woolly Hollow State Park is less than 30 minutes away and features some of the area’s most-visited mountain biking trails.

Scenic Walking Trails

There are plenty of other ways to enjoy the outdoors in Conway. The region is full of easy walking trails perfect for families or anyone looking for a relaxing and fun scenic stroll. City parks with playgrounds like Laurel Park and City of Colleges Park offer a place for little ones to get their wiggles out while parents enjoy some fresh air. 

Fun on the Water

For water recreation, Beaverfork Lake is a must. There is a designated swimming spot available, and the lake is a favorite for fishing, kayaking and boating. Early mornings are quieter for paddling, while evenings are popular for boating and sunset picnics. Bringing sunscreen, bug spray and folding chairs makes lake days much more comfortable during warmer months.

Conway's Walkable Downtown

Downtown Conway offers a compact, walkable mix of local restaurants, coffee shops and gathering spaces.The Patio Café serves up casual breakfast or lunch in a relaxed setting. B&B Bakery on Front Street is a bike-friendly spot to grab a coffee, a fresh sandwich or artisan breads and pastries.

Rogue Roundabout is a downtown brewery, restaurant and event space that celebrates cycling culture and acts as a natural gathering place.  Because downtown is so walkable, it's easy to park once and spend the rest of the day wandering between shops, patios and coffee stops. 

Conway Festivals & Events

Conway hosts a year-round calendar of events that bring people together from across the region. Held on the first Friday of the month, the Conway Art Walk transforms downtown into an open-air arts festival with live music, pop-up galleries and interactive experiences. Expect sidewalks full of musicians, artists and families wandering between shops and restaurants.

Each May, Toad Suck Daze takes over downtown Conway with one of Arkansas’ largest and most recognizable festivals. More than 100,000 people attend the free event each year for concerts, carnival rides, shopping, food vendors and the famously quirky World Championship Toad Races. Families especially love the Toadal Kids Zone, which includes hands-on activities, performances and open play areas designed for younger visitors.

Cyclists can join the popular Tour de Toad ride during festival weekend, with 10-, 20- and 40-mile route options that range from casual family rides to endurance routes through central Arkansas scenery. Festival weekends can get crowded downtown, so arriving early for parking and bringing comfortable walking shoes is worth it.
