Oxbow Guide Service
What to know
Oxbow Guide Service is a full service Crappie Fishing and Duck Hunting operation that concentrates on the Delta region along the eastern side of Arkansas. For Fishing, we start each year at Horseshoe Lake in Crittenden County. This is Arkansas' 2nd largest natural lake. It is an oxbow lake that lies outside the levee of the Mississippi River and is not affected by seasonal flood waters of the Mississippi. Horseshoe is a beautiful lake that is lined in cypress trees and is plentiful in wild fowl and fish. During the year as flood waters recede, we will fish other oxbows such as Midway, Tunica Cutoff, Desoto and even Ferguson Chute. We keep up with the crappie as the waters fluctuate so that we can put you on the best bite possible.
During the winter months starting in late November, we shift our focus from crappie fishing and concentrate on Duck Hunting in the famous green timber of Arkansas. Duck hunting in timber is a special treat here in Arkansas as it is steeped in tradition. We harvest a variety of ducks every year with our staples being Mallards and Gadwall with a good mix of wood ducks, widgeon, teal and a few lesser scaup and pintails. Our hunts are as simple as day hunts or we can accommodate full lodging and meals included. All duck hunting is on a half day basis as we stop at noon each day.
Don't hesitate to give us a try! We are not the most well publicized operation in the state, but we have clients that return each year. Our clients are what make our business and we take care of our clients. Our guide has 50 years of crappie fishing experience and fishes on a national level in tournaments. He also just finished his 51st duck season and will do everything he can to put ducks in front of you. Give us a try and we bet that you will be back.
