From the intersection at Hwy. 64 and Hwy. 155, it’s about three miles of rolling hills and one wall of work between you and the top of Mount Nebo. Rising 1,350 feet, it’s a very challenging ascent with several sharp switchbacks. Waiting for you are gorgeous views of the Arkansas River Valley and a state park with campsites, cabins and a swimming pool. The 4.5-mile Bench Trail is a great mountain biking trail that circumnavigates the mountain. As you ride through the mixed hardwood and pine forest, you’ll pass historic springs and Fern Lake and see rockwork done by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the early 1930s.
