Typical of the Arkansas dams built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers beginning in the late 1940s, this dam created the 40,000-acre Greers Ferry Lake. Was dedicated by John F. Kennedy one month before his assassination. Corps of Engineers campgrounds available.
