Command-Aire factory at 1823 East 17th Street in Little Rock (Closed)
What to know
Command-Aire, located adjacent to Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, was founded in 1926 as an aircraft manufacturer. In the early days, the owners of the company invested a great of deal resources in hopes of producing their own aircraft design, which failed. Then, ownership attempted to purchase the production license for the Heinkel HD-40, which also failed. Undeterred, ownership hired the Heinkel aircraft engineer to develop an aircraft and approximately 300 models were built and sold before the Great Depression hit and later forced the company into bankruptcy. The original manufacturing building still stands today and is used as an industrial facility.
