The Christmas spirit is alive in Newport! Schedule a stop by the decorations at the historic Jackson County Courthouse, find all 40 trios of pre-lit Christmas trees throughout the Newport, and make plans to attend the annual Newport Christmas Parade on December 9 at 6:00 p.m. down Malcolm Avenue. In downtown Newport, swing by Front Street Park and the Veterans Memorial at Front and Hazel Streets where you’ll find giant Nutcracker soldiers, a soldier memorial display, a seven-piece soldier band and the new Iwo Jima display. Don’t forget to visit the drive-through decorations between Newport Lake and the Farmers Market where you can see nearly 100 displays. While you’re there, keep an eye out for the legendary White River Monster! Wrap up your trip at the home of Dr. Patti Mullins, 4 Sue Circle in Newport, who has one of the largest private outdoor Christmas exhibits in the region that is a sight to behold.
