Fun for All at the Arkansas State Fair
The state’s biggest entertainment production, the Arkansas State Fair, is always eagerly anticipated and there are numerous reasons why. What’s your favorite fair experience? The wacky food? The music? The livestock? Horses? Arts and crafts? The thrills of the carnival midway? And that’s not all you can choose from.
The entertainment line-up is always a varied one. And there is always a large selection of free activities too, ranging from petting zoos to rodeos. The Arkansas State Fair is a tradition for many in the state. According to the Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture, the current fair began in the late 1930s, 'but there had been several other efforts over the years to establish a state fair.' This included the first effort which took place in 1868 on Center Street in Little Rock!
